Are You Making These Dangerous Google Pay Mistakes?

Millions of people use Google Pay every day, but many are unknowingly leaving their bank accounts wide open to scammers. By correcting just a few simple habits, you can protect your money from 99% of common UPI frauds. Let’s look at the biggest mistakes you might be making right now.

Mistake 1: Entering PIN to "Receive" Money

This is the #1 way people lose money. Scammers will tell you to scan a QR code or enter your PIN to get a refund or prize. The Truth: You NEVER need to enter your PIN to receive money. If an app asks for your PIN, money is LEAVING your account, not entering it.

Mistake 2: Ignoring Spam Warnings

Google Pay has a smart system that flags suspicious numbers or UPI IDs. If you see a "Spam" or "Suspicious" alert when trying to pay someone, do not ignore it! That person has likely been reported for fraud. Stop the transaction and verify their identity through another way.

Mistake 3: Searching for Support Numbers on Google

Never search for "Google Pay Customer Care" on a search engine. Scammers post fake numbers there to trick you. Always use the Help & Feedback section inside the official Google Pay app to contact real support.

Your 30-Second Security Check

PIN Privacy: Don't share your PIN with anyone—not even someone claiming to be from your bank.

App Lock: Ensure you have a fingerprint or PIN lock enabled for the Google Pay app itself.

Screen Sharing: Never open Google Pay while you are on a screen-sharing call (like AnyDesk or TeamViewer). Scammers can see your PIN as you type it!

💡 PRO TIP: Treat your UPI PIN like your ATM PIN. Keep it secret, keep it safe, and change it every few months!
