Tired of remembering due dates for your Netflix, Spotify, or mobile bills? Google Pay AutoPay is the solution. It uses UPI Mandates to automatically pay your bills on time, every time. Let’s walk through how to set it up perfectly.
1. Finding the Bill Category
Start by opening Google Pay and navigating to the 'Bills' or 'Subscriptions' section. Select the service you want to automate. Most major service providers in India support AutoPay natively within the app.
2. Creating the UPI Mandate
When you select a bill, you'll see an option to "Set up AutoPay." This creates a UPI Mandate. You'll need to specify the maximum amount the app is allowed to deduct and the frequency (monthly, weekly, etc.).
3. Authorizing with PIN
To finalize the setup, you must enter your UPI PIN once. This is a secure one-time authorization. After this, Google Pay will handle the future payments automatically without asking for your PIN each time (for amounts within the mandate limit).
Why Setup AutoPay?
Zero Late Fees: Never pay a penalty for a forgotten bill again.
Total Control: You can pause or cancel your mandate at any time with just two taps.
Safe & Secure: All mandates are regulated by NPCI and require your initial PIN authorization.
💡 PRO TIP: When setting the 'Maximum Limit' for a mandate, keep it slightly higher than your usual bill amount to account for small price changes or taxes!
