Setting up AutoPay on Google Pay is great for convenience, but you need to know how to monitor it. Checking your mandate status regularly ensures your subscriptions stay active and your bills are paid on time. Let's break down the different statuses you'll see in the app.
Status: ACTIVE 🟢
This is exactly what you want to see. An Active status means your mandate is live, and Google Pay will automatically deduct the amount from your bank account on the scheduled date. No action is needed from your side!
Status: PAUSED 🟠
A Paused status means the automatic payments have been temporarily stopped. This can happen if you've manually paused it or if there's a temporary issue with the service provider. You will need to "Resume" the mandate to start payments again.
Status: FAILED / REVOKED 🔴
This status indicates that the payment didn't go through. It could be due to insufficient funds, bank server issues, or the mandate being canceled. If it's Revoked, the link between your bank and the service is broken, and you'll likely need to set up the AutoPay from scratch.
How to Find Your AutoPay List
Step 1: Open Google Pay and tap on your Profile Picture.
Step 2: Look for the Autopay or Mandates option.
Step 3: Tap on any specific mandate to see its full history and current status.
💡 PRO TIP: Always check your mandate status 2 days before a big payment (like rent or insurance) to avoid any last-minute surprises!
