What You Need Before Starting
- The Google Pay app installed on your smartphone.
- At least two bank accounts already added to your Google Pay profile.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open Google Pay: Launch the app on your mobile device.
- Access Your Profile: On the main screen, tap your profile picture or initials located at the top right corner.
- Select Bank Accounts: Tap on the Bank Account section to see all your linked accounts.
- Choose Your New Default: Tap on the specific bank account you want to use as your primary account.
- Set as Primary: Look for the option "Set as primary account" and tap it. Follow any confirmation prompts if they appear.
Important Things to Remember
Changing your default account is simple, but keep these two points in mind:
- Sending vs. Receiving: The default setting only affects which account is used for sending money. You can still receive money into any of your linked accounts.
- UPI ID: Your UPI ID (or Virtual Payment Address) is tied to your bank account. Switching your primary account may update the UPI ID you use for transactions.
