Digital payments are convenient, but scammers are always looking for ways to trick you. In this guide, we’ll break down the most common scams and how you can keep your hard-earned money safe.
1. Common Types of Paytm Scams
❌ Fake Payment Requests
A scammer sends a "Request Money" notification. They tell you to click "Pay" to receive money. Remember: You only click "Pay" to send money!
❌ QR Code Scams
Scammers may send a QR code and claim scanning it will deposit money into your account. This is false. Scanning a QR code is used to make payments, not receive them.
❌ Fake Customer Care Calls
Real Paytm agents will never ask for your OTP, UPI PIN, or bank details over the phone. If someone asks for these, hang up immediately!
2. Golden Rules for Safety
- 🛡️ Never Share Your OTP: Treat your OTP like your house key. Don't give it to anyone.
- 🛡️ Verify Before You Click: Read the screen carefully. Does it say "Paying" or "Receiving"?
- 🛡️ Avoid Unknown Links: Never click on reward links sent via SMS or WhatsApp from unknown numbers.
- 🛡️ Use Official Support: Only contact Paytm through the official app's "Help & Support" section.
💡 Pro Tip:
If someone is creating urgency (saying "do it now!") or asking you to perform an action to receive money, it’s almost certainly a scam. Slow down and think before you act!
