Think of a computer like a human being. The Hardware is the physical body—the parts you can see and touch. The Software is the mind—the invisible thoughts and instructions that tell the body what to do. Without software, hardware is just a shell. Without hardware, software has nowhere to live!
1. What is Hardware?
Hardware includes everything physical. If you can kick it, drop it, or plug it in, it’s hardware.
- External Hardware: Your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.
- Internal Hardware: Parts inside the case like the motherboard, hard drive, and CPU (the computer's brain).
2. What is Software?
Software is the collection of digital instructions that make the hardware useful. You can't touch it, but you use it every time you turn on your device.
- System Software: Like Windows or macOS, which runs the whole computer.
- Application Software: Apps like Google Chrome, WhatsApp, or Microsoft Word that help you perform specific tasks.
3. How They Work Together
When you click a button with your Hardware (the mouse), the Software (your operating system) processes that command and sends a message back to another piece of Hardware (the monitor) to show you the result. It's a continuous, high-speed conversation!
